GOT IT?ĭespite the rudeness of the post, I will ask a question on a piece of (seemingly obvious) info that you haven't provided: did you even ask other Steam users? (In the Steam forums or elsewhere.) I would imagine a reasonable software developer should know to ask other Steam users since it is a Steam issue and not "Windows crashing when running IE", for example. I was asking on here because it is a forum full of people who use mac products with book camp. I do not need for you to explain to me where my problem is I am a software developer. They do not work with windows 7 on my macbook pro running under bootcamp. All of my games for steam work on OSX on my macbook.

The forum is not called "Bootcamp Installation" there is a manual for that. I have seen plenty of other threads on here pertaining to problems arising in windows 7 through bootcamp that would not arise otherwise. It is a problem involving how my HARDWARE INTERACTS WITH WINDOWS 7 THROUGH BOOTCAMP.

Game runs fine on my PC, I had a feeling that the problem had something to do with drivers so I asked on here. Programs and drivers that try to detect the hardware or read from (BIOS) firmware
Apple adds OSswitcher and TimeSynch to handle those two services. And no F10 (or 12 or whatever) to bring up, but there is Alt boot manager. And can't boot into BIOS to adjust hardware.
Shorter battery life, runs hotter, BT keyboards and wifi are more likely to be issues. Other than Windows always needs drivers for motherboad support, to support chipsets and such, a Mac can be 100% Windows only.
Unique to Macs and PC programs don't usually work so assume no unless otherwise and that is unique. HFS drivers, and programs to backup or image and restore Windows, yes. The old AD forums had install, network, applications, Bonjour and Apple SU (both are still present).ģrd party audio, network and graphic drivers, yes. "InputRemapper" though would allow settng fan speed on MacBook and Mac Pro, was created in May 2007 and to my knowledge is the only thing that helps the fans but has not been updated since - maybe it doesn't need toĪny software though is 3rd party and while some basics, really there has been little of the in depth discussion.Īpple has a disclaimer of how far their support for Windows goes. SmartFan is a nice Windows utility and I kept hoping for years it would be possible and "ported" to work on Mac motherboards, but never seen it. That is why heat and cooling are more of an issue and a real problem even now running Windows. Macs rely on SMC/EFI for thermal management of fans which does not work when the MAC is running Windows.Īnd that is what people seem to mean with "Mac running under Boot Camp" which implies something else. So the drivers are locked into Lion and Boot Camp Assistant.

Can you install one time only 3.3 as a full set? No. peeve.īoot Camp 3.0 - came out Aug 2009 barely built while Windows 7 RC was winding down and 'frozen' but not RTM even - and why "3.1 req'd for Windows 7" but did they replace 3.0? No. Just that Apple chargers $30 for the drivers.

Installing graphic drivers: seems like it slowly is getting easier and better to install those now, may require Boot Camp driver 4.01+. The Mac Pro Early 2008 was the first Mac with full 64-bit UEFI too. Booting GPT requires EFI and Intel/MS and Apple officially adopted a UEFI standard late 2007 for 64-bit kernel boot mode, for MS starting with Vista SP1 64-bit in 2008. Windows runs native, pure and simple but without the BIOS which was replaced with UEFI, which is now found being supported on some newer PC motherboads, often as a hybrid. There is no running the OS under anything, unless talking about VMs and Guest OS. GPT supports an MBR, there is always a 'protective MBR' already. I have a lot of peeves with "95%" support for "Windows on Mac" to replace the name Boot Camp which is and should be reserved for :īoot Camp Assistant - to assist in partition and install There use to be sub-forums, those are gone with the new "Communities"
